Charley Reese&#;s Final Column for the Orlando Sentinel

Charley Reese&#;s final column for the Orlando Sentinel&#; He has been a journalist for 49 years. He is retiring and this is HIS LAST COLUMN.

It was written back on February 3, , but you&#;ll swear it was written yesterday. Writing such as this is called beautiful by writers such as myself, because it&#;s brilliantly simplistic, and beautiful, brilliant, simplistic writing is timeless.

It was written during President Ronald Reagan’s tenure as president, but it is non-partisan in its condemnation. It was written after a tumultuous year () of spending that led to a mountainous trillion dollar debt. That was a leap in the debt of nearly % of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) from President Carter&#;s last days. The final amount of the debt as a percentage of the GDP that enraged Charley Reese enough to write this prescient column in was %.

A very interesting column. COMPLETELY NEUTRAL.

He has been a journalist for 49 years.

He is retiring and this is HIS LAST COLUMN.

This is about as clear and easy to understand as it can be. The article below is completely neutral, neither anti-republican or democrat. Charlie Reese, a retired reporter for the Orlando Sentinel, has hit the nail directly on the head, defining clearly who it is that in the final analysis must assume responsibility for the judgments made that impact each one of us every day. It's a short but good read. Worth the time. Worth remembering!

vs. ,, People
- By Charlie Reese

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.

Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?

Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don't propose a federal budget. The President does.

You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.&n

An editorial written by longtime Orlando Sentinel columnist Charley Reese in is still making the rounds today on the Internet, but there are a few misconceptions about it.
The Truth:
Orland Sentinel columnist Charley Reese wrote this column in February , and it appeared under the headline, “ People are Responsible for the Mess, but They Unite in a Common Con.”
The “ People” column, as it has become known, has taken on a life of its own over the last three decades. But many who read and repost the column don’t know much about it, or its author, and that has led to a few misconceptions.
One big misconception is that “ People” was Charley Reese’s final column. It’s not clear where that claim originated, but it’s falsely been used to add dramatic effect to Reese’s legendary column. It implies that either Reese was fired for expressing such a strong anti-establishment view, or that a legendary journalist had to sound off about a broken political system for one last time. In truth, it was far from Reese’s last column.

So, why did it interest me again today? Because I am completely flummoxed….why elected officials act and support un-American policies, such as; Restricting U.S. Energy production, Open Borders, protection of illegal immigrants, Sanctuary Cities, Defunding the Police, protection of criminals, engaging in &#;Lawfare&#; against Donald Trump, Inflationary Laws (IRA which codified the Green New Deal) and more&#;

Read the column and then ponder what your thoughts might be on why the have not acted in the best interests of and for America? Who funds their election campaigns?
