Education

In , he returned to Poland with his family, but he left for Paris in , when he was fourteen, and studied pantomime under Marcel Marceau.

Career

In he was chosen to travel to Moscow to present flowers to Joseph Stalin. In the family returned to Poland and in , they emigrated to France, taking up residence in Paris. He was admitted to the École nationale des beaux-arts to study painting.

His first international exhibit was in in Buenos Aires, and he remained in that city for 2 years, returning to France in , where he engaged in political journalism and advocacy.

In Halter organized the French College in Moscow. As of he remained the president of the college.

Halter has also been subject to controversy in recent years. French magazines Le Point and Le Nouvel Observateur have accused him of lying about several parts of his life.

Marek Halter was born in Poland in During World War II, he and his parents narrowly escaped from the Warsaw ghetto. After a time in Russia and Uzbekistan, they emigrated to France in There Halter studied pantomime with Marcel Marceau and embarked on a career as a painter that led to several international exhibitions. He first published THE MADMAN AND THE KINGS, which was awarded the Prix Aujourd’hui in He is also the author of several internationally acclaimed, bestselling historical novels, including THE MESSIAH, THE MYSTERIES OF JERUSALEM, and THE BOOK OF ABRAHAM, SARAH, the first novel of the Canaan trilogy. LILAH, the last of the trilogy, will be published in Marek Halter lives in Paris.
