Âgé de 19 ans, le violoncelliste et étudiant en interprétation de l’UdeM Stéphane Tétreault a reçu le prix Opus de la découverte de l’année en janvier dernier. Si le jeune musicien hésite à reconnaître son statut d’étoile de la musique classique, plusieurs spécialistes du domaine ne se gênent pas pour le faire.
Les membres du Conseil québécois de la musique, qui ont décerné à Stéphane le prix de la découverte de l’année, ont tenu à souligner son brio. « L’artiste de grand talent connaît un début de carrière fulgurant à un âge qui le promet à un grand avenir », a affirmé le jury anonyme lors du Gala Opus.
L’animatrice de l’émission radiophonique Le printemps des musiciens à Radio-Canada, Françoise Davoine, estime que le jeune homme possède bien plus que du talent brut. « Il a une personnalité unique et hors du commun », assure-t-elle.
