Artists of the Year - Etam Cru
Group Shows
In between all these street art festivals, fairs and commissioned works, Etam Cru found time to take part in two important group shows. First one, organized as a part of the opening of a new gallery space of Vienna’s Inoperable gallery, happened October 10, featuring 37 artists who have been collaborating with the gallery before its closing in , as well as the ones that the gallery team is looking forward to working with in the future. The show entitled “REDUX” welcomed artists like Onka Allmayer-Beck, Etam Cru, Boicut, Broken Fingaz, Christian Eisenberger, Colin van der Sluijs, EVER, EVOCA1, FAITH47, Lukas Gansterer, Saner and many more.
As the Polish urban culturehas been growing significantly over the past several years, as an outcome of such a cultural development, we have Etam Cru, Robert Proch, Chazme and Sepe who represent some of the biggest names in the world of the graffiti and street art. Following the footsteps of this practice, an ongoing project called the Polish Urban Art is on a mission to promote the best of what Poland has to offer in terms of creative individuals. Przemek Blejzyk aka Sainer () and Mateusz Gapski aka Bezt () compose graffiti duo Etam Cru. Born and raised in Poland, both met while studying fine art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz. They started painting together after graduating from the Academy in Today Etam Cru is considered most accomplished in Polish street art.
Sainer is a freelancer who creates murals, graphic design illustrations as well as portraits. Originally known under the moniker &#;Sain&#;, he is referred to as &#;Sainer&#;. Graffiti duo from Poland known as Etam Cru creates large-scale murals able to transform dull cityscapes into a wonderland of colors and fantastic, fairytale elements. Two young muralists called Sainer and Bezt use the entire high-rise European buildings as their canvases. Their pieces are usually infused with hints of Eastern European folklore, such as mushrooms and forest creatures, even though it is known that these elements are also the important part of rave and psychedelic culture. The scenes that Etam Cru depicts are rarely static – on the contrary, they are action-packed, reminiscent of various graphic novels. Every aspect of their colorful murals seems to be in motion: animals and houses come to life and human characters gain abilities that defy the laws of physics.
