An American singer-songwriter and guitarist John Clayton Mayer. He was born and grew up in Fairfield County, Connecticut. He joined Berklee College of Music in Boston. Later, he left it and moved to Atlanta in with Clay Cook. Then, together, they formed a short-lived two-man band named Lo-Fi Masters. After parting their ways, Mayer continued to play local clubs, refining his skills and gaining a following.
